Shamim Sarif

Shamin Sarif was born in the UK in 1969, to South African/Indian parents, and is one of the most acclaimed writers and directors on the lesbian scene. Her work deals with contemporary issues, such as the relationship between sexuality, gender and different cultures. In 2007, she directed the film taken from her debut novel The World Unseen, which had won the Pendleton May First Novel Award and the prestigious Betty Task Award. She then published Despite the Falling Snow and I Can?t Think Straight, which she brought to the cinema screen as a director in 2007.
