Elfi Mikesch

Born in Austria in 1940, Elfi Mikesch is mainly known as a director of photography and camerawoman and has worked with important names in German cinema, such as Werner Schroeter, Rosa von Praunheim and Monika Treut. She debuted as director in 1978 with the documentary I Often Think of Hawaii, directing 20 features. She has won many awards, like the Frameline Award at the San Francisco International Lesbian & Gay Film Festival 1991 and the Honorary Award at the German Camera Award 2006.
