Adopción (Adoption)

Documentary Argentina 2009

During the military regime in Argentina, Ricardo and his partner courageously adopt Juan, a child born in 1976. The child adapts well to his new home, but year after year his past continues to disturb him. Ricardo thinks that Juan should get to know his roots and so he decides to go and seek his son's identity, only to discover that the story is far different from what is written on his papers. The film is based on a true story, but the real protagonists of the event decided not to take part due to personal problems. So the director, David Lipszyc, decided to bring it to the screen using actors. The result is an original, fascinating film, where documentary clips, interviews and Super8 footage are intercut with fictional scenes, with no attempt at continuity.
